Kids know how to keep kids away from smoking – all they need is an opportunity to get out the message in their own exciting way.

Approach
Invite kids to participate in a county-wide week-long “smoke-free celebration” and give them the tools to build their own event. Contests, giveaways, event ideas, facts, stickers, website and even gross Smoking Stinks! messages make this an anticipated annual event!

Results
The 2008 Tobacco-Free Kids Week was the most successful in the event’s 14-year history, with 171 groups and 74,835 kids participating — in nearly 100% of all Anne Arundel County’s schools.
