Concern for the world's poor has always been central to the Catholic faith, and it is the poor who now bear the brunt of climate change. So how do you motivate and mobilize American Catholics to take action?
Working with12 partner organizations of the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change, Crosby's creative campaign boldly asked "Who's under your carbon footprint?" while showing a compelling human image inside a stark footprint graphic. In an instant, the human impact of climate change is brought down to a very personal level. The message was delivered through print ads in newspapers such as the New York Times and national Catholic publications, online banners, and direct mail to more than 20,000 Catholic parishes and schools across the country.
Crosby also created www.CatholicClimateCovenant.org where visitors can watch a powerful intro video, take a Pledge to make personal changes that impact climate change, and read what others are doing to make a difference.
In the initial weeks, the website has had 15,000 visits, and more than 75 media outlets have covered the campaign launch, adding to the growing buzz surrounding the campaign.
