An experienced strategist, Kat has a nearly 20-year history of leading public health, risk communication, and behavior change campaigns addressing issues such as heart disease, cancer, pandemic flu, and flood mitigation. She is an expert at developing the right messaging to help clients frame an issue and drive actions that lead to better decision making for individuals, communities, and stakeholder groups.
Prior to joining Crosby, Kat was a Senior Vice President at Ogilvy Public Relations, where she led teams for clients including the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and several Institutes at the National Institutes of Health. She was also Public Affairs Director for the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department during a period with multiple high-profile emergencies in Washington, including Anthrax in the U.S. postal system.
She is a graduate of Hamline University, and is the recipient of several national awards, including Public Sector Campaign of the Year Finalist from PRWeek Awards, and Best Media Campaign from PR News Nonprofit PR Awards. When not working, Kat can usually be found riding her horse or roping cattle on ranching adventures.
