Crosby Marketing Communications recently celebrated its fifth annual Inspiring Actions That Matter™ Day of Service. For the entire day, the agency closed its Annapolis, Md., headquarters and Washington, D.C., office so all 76 staff members could participate in service projects with local charities and nonprofit organizations.
In one day, the Crosby team donated 560 hours of community service through service projects at three different organizations in the Washington/Baltimore region. Crosby volunteered for these groups:
- The Capital Area Food Bank, located in Northeast D.C., seeks to create access to good, healthy food in every community. Crosby staff worked in the food bank’s garden and packed and sorted donated food.
- Maryland Therapeutic Riding in Crownsville, Md., provides horseback riding programs for children and adults with physical, mental, and emotional challenges. The Crosby team cleared storm water drains, spread mulch on the sensory trail and painted the volunteer trailer.
- The Oyster Restoration Program of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, located in Shady Side, Md., grows and distributes oysters to help restore water quality in the bay and its tributary rivers. Crosby staff cleaned 1,500 pounds of oyster shells for planting oyster spat, prepared materials for building oyster cages, and cleaned four large oyster-setting tanks.
To provide support beyond the day of service, Crosby also made a $5,000 donation to each organization. And as another “action that matters,” Crosby donated $5,000 for hurricane relief efforts in the United States, bringing total donations to $20,000.
“Our annual day of service allows us to practice our company mission of Inspiring Actions That Matter™ in our own communities,” said agency President and CEO Raymond Crosby. “Our team is committed to contributing to the public good, both in the work we do for clients and in serving the local community.
