Crosby Wins Seven Best in Maryland Awards, Most of Any Firm

Crosby Marketing Communications won seven awards in the 2020 Best in Maryland competition conducted by the Maryland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. This is the most awards by any communications firm in the competition.

The Best in Maryland Awards is presented annually to honor public relations practitioners who, in the judgment of their peers, have successfully addressed a communications challenge with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness.

Crosby was honored for these programs:

  • Two awards for campaigns conducted for DAV (Disabled American Veterans), a national nonprofit organization that provides free services to more than one million veterans each year.
    • Integrated Communications: Victories for Veterans PSA Campaign ─ Crosby created this national campaign using TV, radio, print and out-of-home to showcase powerful stories of real veterans who found their personal victories with help from DAV.
    • Public Service Announcements: Victories for Veterans PSA – Crosby won with a TV PSA that tells the stories of Bobby Barrera and Carmen McGinnis, two veterans who overcame great challenges with help from DAV.
  • Two awards for COVID-19 Communications, a new category honoring outstanding communications during the pandemic:
    • Helping the Military Navigate the Impacts of COVID-19: Crosby rolled out an integrated communications campaign in a matter of days for the Department of Defense’s Military OneSource program to help the worldwide military community navigate the impacts of COVID-19.
    • Promoting COVID-19 Relief Fund to Support America’s Veterans: Crosby produced a national TV PSA to create awareness of this DAV fund providing financial support to disabled veterans who lost employment due to COVID-19.
  • Creative Tactics, Association/Nonprofit/Government: Working with Kaiser Permanente, Crosby developed a high-profile, experiential marketing program with Dulles International Airport that used dramatic, branded installations to give millions of travelers stress-relieving activities and quick health tips.
  • Public Service Announcements: For the Health Resources and Services Administration’s national organ donation program, Crosby created “The Good In You,” a national TV PSA that tells the story of an upbeat man who knows in the moments after death he has one last job, to give the gift of his organs to those in need.
  • Social Media, Association/Nonprofit/Government: Helping the Department of Defense’s Military OneSource program recognize MIlSpouse Appreciation Day, Crosby created “love notes,” which enabled participants to honor the military spouses in their lives on social media.
