Crosby Celebrates 10th Annual Inspiring Actions That Matter Day of Service

Continuing a decade-long tradition, Crosby Marketing Communications recently held its tenth annual Inspiring Actions That Matter™ Day of Service. Since the program’s start in 2013, the firm has donated a total of 4,012 hours of employee time and $141,600 to support local nonprofits and charities.

This year, 102 Crosby employees spent the day working with two local charities, performing 612 hours of volunteer service, and the firm donated $5,000 to each organization for a total of $10,000. The charities were:

  • Light House in Anne Arundel County helps rebuilds people’s lives by providing shelter and services to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward employment, housing and self-sufficiency. Crosby’s work included serving hot lunches, adding encouraging notes to donated winter socks, creating and delivering “Rocks of Hope and Kindness,” and yardwork.
  • Second Chance in Baltimore retrains and creates employment for displaced and unemployed workers by repurposing reclaimed building materials and then selling them. Crosby helped prepare lumber for reuse, cleaned artwork and furniture for sale, sorted books and prepared merchandise for pricing.

Crosby Marketing Communications has won four awards in the 43rd annual Telly Awards, which showcases the best work created within television and video.

Chosen from among 12,000 entries this year, winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers around the world. Crosby was honored for:

  • “Coping? How’s It Going?” in the Social Media Video – Fully Animated Piece category. Produced for the Military OneSource program of the Department of Defense, the video promotes counseling programs that help service members and their families cope with challenging situations.

The PSA won in the Regional TV – Public Interest/Awareness category and features county residents who encourage others to do all they can to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
  • “Like a MilSpouse” in the Social Video – Culture & Lifestyle category. Created for Military OneSource, the video recognizes the contributions spouses make to the military community and salutes their courage, strength and resiliency.
  • “Military Funeral Honors: Hero’s Grace,” a video produced for Military OneSource, in the Social Video – Education & Discovery category. It presents a moving tribute to those who have served their country and provides an overview of funeral military honors for funeral planners.

Crosby Takes Four Aster Awards for Healthcare Marketing

Crosby Marketing Communications has won four healthcare marketing awards, including three Golds, in the annual Aster Awards.

Now in its 20th year, the Aster Awards recognize outstanding excellence in advertising, marketing and communications. Crosby’s winning entries were selected from among more than 2,500 nationwide for their outstanding creativity, message effectiveness and consumer appeal. Crosby received these honors:

  • Gold Aster for the “Everything We Could” TV PSA produced for the Santa Clara County, California, Public Health Department. The PSA features county residents and encourages people to do everything they can to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
  • Gold Aster for a COVID-19 prevention radio PSA, also for the Santa Clara County, California, Public Health Department.
  • Gold Aster for the “Chill Drills” mobile app created for the Military OneSource program of the Department of Defense.  The app gives service members and their families access to tips and simple exercises to cope with the stresses of military life.
  • Bronze Aster for a social media series produced for the Department of Health and Human Services that addressed issues of self-care and women’s health.

Broadneck High School Senior Wins $5,000 Crosby Marketing & Media Studies Scholarship

Madeleine Stern, a Broadneck High School senior, has received the 2022 Crosby Marketing & Media Studies Scholarship. The $5,000 award is given each year through the Scholarships for Scholars program to a high school senior who has displayed the attributes and academic rigor necessary to excel in the fields of marketing or media.

“Madeleine has demonstrated a flair for writing and journalism, and she is building a reputation as a literary social activist,” said Raymond Crosby, President and CEO of Crosby Marketing. “We are proud that this scholarship will help her take the next step to prepare for her chosen career.”

Stern will study journalism and Spanish at Northwestern University starting in the fall.

The founder and manager of “Real and Relatable Blog,” she is also the creator of prize-winning videos and the recipient of awards from the Anne Arundel County Literacy Chapter. Active in exposing and combating anti-Semitism, she spoke at a 2021 global summit on the subject, where her prize-winning video, which features 30 teenagers from 14 different countries, was viewed by people around the world. Her writings, speeches and video presentations have won her multiple awards from the D.C. Council’s B’nai B’rith Youth Organization. She plans to use her skills to speak out against racially motivated hatred, wherever it’s directed.

Scholarships for Scholars, Inc., awards scholarships annually to graduating high school seniors who are Anne Arundel County residents, have demonstrated exceptional abilities in specific disciplines, and have contributed to their schools and to the community at large.

Crosby Wins ADDY Award in Los Angeles Competition

Crosby Marketing Communications has won an ADDY in the 2022 Los Angeles American Advertising Awards Competition. Crosby won in the Public Service Television category for its Everything I Could TV PSA, produced for the Santa Clara County Public Health Department in California.

The 60-second ad is part of an integrated COVID-19 campaign Crosby created for the Health Department. It features diverse residents of Santa Clara County who are determined to take steps to protect their family and friends by helping prevent the spread of the disease.

The American Advertising Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most prestigious competition, recognizing creative excellence and the best advertising both in local competitions at the national level. For 2022, there were about 30,000 entries nationwide.

Crosby Promotes Three Senior Executives

Crosby Marketing Communications has announced the promotion of three executives to support the company’s continuing rapid growth.

As Executive Vice President of Operations, Amy Hitt helps oversee every facet of Crosby’s operations: its people, processes, technology platforms and production services. Since joining Crosby in 1994, she has been instrumental in developing best practices to improve the firm’s operational efficiency, productivity, and creativity. She also has more than 20 years of experience in broadcast, print and digital production.

Promoted to Vice President, Connection Planning, Jamie Breazeale plans and executes comprehensive, multi-channel media programs that help clients achieve their brand communications goals. With Crosby since 2013, she has developed media campaigns for clients that include DAV (Disabled American Veterans), the Department of Health and Human Services, Kaiser Permanente, and the Peace Corps.

Mini Johri was promoted to Associate Vice President, Production Services.
